I mentioned I've been having awfully late dinners lately, and this is due partially to being busy and partially to the fact that I've also been having awfully late breakfasts. Which, in itself, is probably due to busyness. I haven't eaten before about 2pm in recent memory, and when I do finally have breakfast, it's a pretty big deal.
Today I celebrated finishing a big important paper with a big breakfast. A pot of tea with orange peel, a cup of black grapes and orange, a chocolate bunny head (!), and a heavy bowl of one of my absolute favorite breakfast/snack/dessert dishes-- that I'm sure you're going to hate. It's just ricotta with a thin drizzle of honey and some cashews and dried cranberries (of course, you can substitute the topping at will). How is this particularly different than a canoli without the shell? It's not! And how is eating a scoop of lumpy ricotta any more gross than eating gnarly old cottage cheese? Trick question: unlike cottage cheese, it's actually delicious. Despite my objections, though, no one I have ever introduced this glorious dish to likes it. Maybe one of you out there can try it out and back me up!
