Cold Comfort

Sat., Oct. 10, 2009

Ok, so it's really not that cold out, but it's a little cool, right? And it's definitely still overcast. I wanted to use up some bits and bobs for my late lunch.

So here's some shepherd's cowherd's pie. This got rid of the leftover mashed potatoes I had from my steak night, about a quarter of a bag of sad looking spinach, one of the last carrots I had, half an onion from yesterday's soup, and some ground beef I've had frozen for ages. I got impatient and so didn't bake it as long as I should have; the potatoes aren't really very browned at all. It's good though, and tastes like it would be accompanied nicely by an ice cream sandwich ;).

***EDIT***

I made a quick seared steak with sweet orange glaze to go with some rice and broccoli (also to use them up) for dinner, but didn't take a picture. But here is the best part of the night:

Home-made banana smoothies! (Oh yeah, and some guy up there.) Or pretty much "liquefied bananas in yogurt" because our crappy blender can't blend ice. Still yummy :).
