Old Friends

Dear Appetite,

So wonderful to have you back again! The world is certainly duller without your presence, and though I suppose it's true that 'absence makes the heart grow fonder', I am quite sure that I will never stop being fond of eating. Don'tt feel as though you must make yourself a stranger for my sake!

I have had such a delightful time with you in the last few days since your arrival. Together we have eaten an unreasonable amount of Halloween candy, true, but that is only to be expected! On Tuesday we made together (admittedly, with the company of The Boy this time) a delightful batch of Shrimp Newburg. It was really too bad that my muffin tin seems to have spirited itself away somewhere, because Crecent roll dough really does require a little more assistance in becoming cups than just hand-molding. Oh well. The wine glasses filled with the blush of strangely classy sparkling "French Berry" Lemonade" from a corked glass bottle made it truly an exquisite meal.  Wednesday night we dined together with the unhurried air that can only come when there is no cooking to be done; leftovers is not a dirty word! Thursday we were more ambitious. Mashed Ranch potatoes, snow peas, and grilled steak was a lovely rugged meal, as unpretentious as the ketchup au jus. Friday we sated our hunger in the manner of commoners with a grilled cheeseburger and corn, such a delightful farce! The half jar of pickles eaten in addition shall be our secret, though. Finally, today (Saturday) after spending the morning in languid repose, we treated ourself to an early dinner of toasted & boiled mixed rice with asparagus and grilled paprika chicken. You certainly know how to treat a lady.

Let me reiterate, dear Appetite, how much I always enjoy your company. May I be so bold as to invite you to a night out very soon for Indian? Please do consider!

With love,
Equus
