Remember my posts about bento from earlier this summer? Well, I never really gave it up... I just wound up using boring Glad boxes instead because I found that particular bento box to be a bit too small to hold me through an afternoon. Now I'm using a new box, though, and it's lovely!
Here's a particularly pretty lunch: up at the top you see a mix of couscous and corn with a couple reconstituted (from dried) shiitake mushrooms and a wedge of lemon. The bottom (in reality the top compartment) has a piece of herb crusted salmon leftover from lunch with Jordan's parents nestled in a lettuce "cup" with a few cucumber and carrot slices, and beside that a cupcake liner with edamame (soy beans) sprinkled with salt and pepper providing a healthy contrast to a few pretzel-inside M&M's.
Detail shot! Stupid shadow in the way, but at least you can see how purdy everything is. The edamame aren't fuzzy by the way, they're just frosty because they're still frozen. At 590mL, this box should be large enough to fill me up just fine even when I don't have breakfast (a "properly packed", i.e. no spot left unstuffed, bento should hold calories equal to its volume). It's still li'l, though:
about the size of my (blurry, blotchy) hand. Happy lunching :).

tilapia
ReplyDeletealso im curious about the reconstituted shitake. specifically how bad they tasted
ReplyDeleteNot tilapia! But these shiitake are not bad? Not like the ones I had over the summer that were super rubbery. These are small and actually ok.
